What is the best way to get started in this dive?

Don’t give up.  That is the first step.

Learning any programming language can feel difficult at first.  However, it gets a lot easier as you start to understand how the language works. It’s also helpful to find a project that you enjoy working on.  It’s a lot easier to learn how to code if you are doing something that you enjoy.

Next, don't bother trying to learn CSS before HTML---it won't work.  You can't understand and use CSS if you don't first know HTML, so definitely start with HTML.   Remember: you can easily create a file called index.html in a text editor, create the html, and then open that file in a browser by right clicking from file explorer.  You can practice easily on your own computer.

It's also important to find the right resources to learn.  It's really easy to accidentally read the wrong thing online, and be confused for the next few weeks.  That's why it's so important to have a community to help you with your learning journey!  So if you haven't yet, we heartily recommend you join our worldwide Break Diving community on this website---we have many others also pursuing the Coder - HTML/CSS dive from around the world.
