1. When and Why Did You Decide to Pursue This Dive At This Level? What was your inspiration and motivation?

I love animals. It's always been my dream to have a cat or a dog at home. They are cute and simple. And it saddens me to see injured or stray animals. I decided to adopt a cat when I was pursuing my master degree at UC Davis in 2021.

2. How Long Did It Take For You To Accomplish This Dive At This Level From The Day You Decided To Pursue It, And Why Did It Take That Long?

It was not very long after I decided to adopt a cat. About one week I guess? Because there were a lot of shelters near Davis.

3. What Was The Hardest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

There were so many cats in all these shelters, so it was hard to make a decision.

4. What Was The Easiest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

Almost all the shelters had their own websites, so it was easy to take a look at their introductions, available animals, etc.

5. What Is Your Advice For Someone Who Is Pursuing This Dive And Level?

Do research carefully and make sure you understand everything about the animal you want to adopt :)

6. What Are Some Of The Best Resources You Recommend to Those Pursuing This Dive At This Level, And Why Do You Recommend Them? Please Include Relevant Weblinks, If Applicable.

- Shelters' websites: Everything about a shelter and information about available animals
- Google: Learn about the traits of the animal you want to adopt. For example, some cats have a bad stomach, so you have to be very careful about what they eat and their living environment.
- Experienced friends: They know a bunch of things/details about their pets.

Resource 1: Sacramento SPCA - An example of a shelter's website. You can learn about this shelter. By the way, this is the shelter we adopted Umi.

Resource 2: Cat Breeds Intro - American Shorthair Cat - Learn about temperament/characteristics/lifespan of a cat.

7. Tell Us A Story Of One Of Your Adventures While Pursuing This Dive (At This Level).

When I was very young, my home (in China) had a dog. But he died because of illness, which made our family super sad for a very long time. So I was always worried about whether I could take care of an animal. I decided to have a pet only if I could take care of myself first when I grow up. And now, I'm good at taking care of myself and also others!

8. What Evidence Did You Submit to Prove You Met the Requirements for This Dive and Level?

The resources I provided above as a person who researched on this.

9. Will You Be Pursuing The Next Level For This Dive? If Yes, Why? If Not, Why Not?

Yeah! Umi is with me now :)

10. What is the Break Diver's Creed?

No Rules. No Excuses. No Regrets.
