1. When and Why Did You Decide to Pursue This Dive At This Level? What was your inspiration and motivation?

I am an enthusiastic person and always want to pursue my career to the next level. Therefore, I realized that English is a global language and essential to explore more job opportunities in various workplaces, especially in global companies or even outside my home country. For work purposes, most big companies required job applicants to be able to speak English fluently, and that’s why I decided to pursue this dive. I believe it will benefit me to have better communication with people from all over the world as well.

2. How Long Did It Take For You To Accomplish This Dive At This Level From The Day You Decided To Pursue It, And Why Did It Take That Long?

I’ve learned English for years and I will never learn enough.  I must keep learning.  I'd say it took a couple of years to get to the advanced basic level.  It took me so long to become confident and able to speak professionally in front of people such as in doing a presentation or a meeting.  Now, I can do a presentation and communicate well with the participants for working purposes. But I still have to prepare it before.

Firstly, knowing about the specific terms related to the industry I am presenting like accounting or business plans is quite challenging for me, and those were the words I focused on. I feel that it’s different from the daily conversation I used to speak while traveling abroad. I have to learn how to speak in a formal context, terms of vocabulary used, issues analysis, and be more task-oriented. To me, it’s a long way to go. Secondly, being consistent to learn it daily and make a target to achieve advanced English. I have to manage my time well to learn and put it into practice.

7. Tell Us A Story Of One Of Your Adventures While Pursuing This Dive (At This Level).

I did a presentation about my learning experience in Finance and Accounting Department for the job attachment to the Top Management and co-workers.

I had to do it in English as some of them were expatriates.

At first, I was so nervous and worry that I couldn’t do it due to my limited English until I started to think positively about doing it. Moreover, it’s a must and will impact my job performance so I tried to be optimistic and started step by step.

Firstly, I prepared my materials with a short summary of what I wanted to explain and discuss. Then I established a relevant topic related to my Job attachment and respective department.

Secondly, I asked my mentor’s help to check my grammar and formal sentence in delivering a presentation to make it better. Thirdly, I practiced the presentation frequently alone in front of the mirror before the day.

To pronounce it correctly, I had to imitate google translate word by word.  I also had to be well-prepared for some questions that they might ask. In this, I had to master my topic well.

Finally, I delivered a presentation successfully in front of the Top Management and co-workers.  There were 3 people who will be pointed to as good speakers on the topic and I was one of them.
